I’m not sure this is something I’d really need (even if my kids were still in the put-everything-in-their-mouth stage). But I’ve got to give Teething Bling props for cleverness.
It’s a line of jewelry designed to “look great on Moms” but be “safe for curious babies to handle and chew.”
Produced by a small, mom-run company (of course) called SmartMom (smartmomjewelry.com), Teething Bling features necklaces, bangles and key chains made from a non-toxic silicone. The jewelry is available in several colors.

You never thought the day would come — but in a blink, it’s here. Your baby is mobile.
Now instead of frilling her up in adorable Mary Jane sockies, you actually have to think function.
But let’s not fool ourselves. Laces are just not going to be happening for a long while, and straps? Oh yeah, baby’s really going to sit still long enough for you to do the fastening.
Before I broke down and cruised the Payless aisles, I researched some baby shopping blogs. After a few page jumps, I happened upon race car driver Jeff Gordon’s blog. Gordon and his wife, Ingrid, has posted pictures of daughter Ella’s first...

As a single dad with half-time custody, I straddle the worlds of parenting and dating. One night I’m helping my son with math homework, or discussing Hawthorne’s use of light and darkness with my daughter. The next night I’m on a date with a woman I just met, wondering if we’ll hook up for a night, or even go out again. (Note to married people: be happy and grateful you have someone to sleep with every night!)
This could lead to a Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde personality disorder, except for one thing — a great set of friends. Oh, sure, it sometimes takes a bit of effort to sync up friends’ availability with my...

When the holidays roll around, so do the opportunities for community service. If you decided to get involved in a service project with your kids, here are some recommendations from the experts at KinderCare Learning Centers:
— Lead by example. Serve as a role model by volunteering at your child’s school or engaging them in frequent conversation about community service.
— Involve your child in selecting a project or cause in which to participate.
— Consider a developmentally appropriate cause based on your child’s interest and skill level.
— Prepare you child for the experience by asking questions,...

QUESTION: Anyone have people jealous of them because they are a stay-at-home mom? My husband just told me some of his friend’s wives are jealous because I am fortunate enough to get to stay at home mom with my two kids.

RESPONSES:
“When I first started staying home I got comments all the time that, ‘oh good now you will have lots of time to relax, or, “lucky you, I wish I didn’t have to work.” They don’t understand what is involved....

James plus Thomas equals Percy. Edward plus Henry equals James. Toby plus Thomas equals Duck.
And that’s as far as we’ve made it in number recognition, because we don’t have any Thomas and Friends engines beyond eight. OK, so technically that’s not true. We have Diesel 10, but we’re still missing No. 9.
Confession: It never would have occurred to me to use Boots’ favorite toys as teaching tools. It happened quite by accident. He’d see a figure somewhere and identify it as “Thomas’ number” or “Edward’s number.”
To which Big Guy or I would respond, “yes, that’s...

I don’t shower … first thing in the morning. There, I said it.
If you get your child or children ready for school in the morning, make lunches, get hubby out the door and find the time to shower, get dressed, blow-dry your hair and put on a little makeup, then I applaud you. I truly do, you must be a morning person.
My morning routine consists of all of the above — except the shower part. I have gotten into a habit of showering in the late afternoon or early evening because I really don’t have ANY OTHER TIME to do it.
You may be thinking, “Well, bathing is pretty basic, staying clean is that...
