What do you do with all those family members hanging around the house before or after the Thanksgiving Day feast? Take a nap? Boring! Go to the movies? With all those people? Too expensive, and you’ll never get everyone to agree on the same flick.

We have the alternative! It’s an activity that’s affordable, has something to interest everyone in the family and can help you walk off that extra piece of pumpkin pie — free admission for everyone to Cleveland Metroparks Zoo and The RainForest for the day.

The zoo will be open 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Thanksgiving, and visitors can watch the animals enjoy special holiday treats throughout the day. Animal enrichment demonstrations also will be planned for the festivities.

A full schedule of Thanksgiving at the zoo activities will be posted online at clemetzoo.com and facebook.com/ClevelandMetroparksZoo. The schedule also will be posted at the zoo’s Welcome Plaza.

Complimentary heated transportation through the zoo is provided on Thanksgiving and all winter long.

Northeast Ohio’s most-visited year-round attraction, Cleveland Metroparks zoo is open 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. daily. From Nov. 1 through March 31, admission is discounted to $7 per person, $5 for kids ages 2 to 11 and free for children younger than 2 and zoo members. Parking is free. Located at 3900 Wildlife Way, the Zoo is easily accessible from Interstates 71, 77, 90 and 480.
