Potty training twins tires mom out
I woke up today around 7 a.m. It is now around 2 p.m. In that seven-hour time span, I have spent probably more than half (or so it seems) in my bathroom.
No, I am not sick … I am potty training a set of twins.
Bringing them home from the hospital has proven to be easier than conquering this new milestone.
When I brought them home, they ate, slept and were changed at the same time – always.
However, trying to put them on the same “potty” schedule will never-ever work.
Katie loves the bathroom. She loves the books I put in there for her to read. She loves the fact she gets to use toilet paper. She loves washing her hands. She may have a future in the janitorial sector of the workforce if this love of bathrooms continues.
Derek … oh my Derek … he has gone potty once in the pot and twice … outside the potty. The male “equipment” is just throwing him off! I have tried to get him to sit. I have tried to get him to “pee-pee on the paper.” No. He prefers to stand up and hold the potty bowl by his body. Whatever works, right?!
I admit, I do not remember potty training Ethan. I do, however, remember he also wasn’t a fan of sitting and going, much like Derek. I also realize that the patience I had with Ethan will need to be 10 times greater since I have two to train at once this time around.
And, until they are potty-trained, I think I will just set my laptop on the bathroom counter and call it my new “office.”
