Viewers of “Days of Our Lives” and “The Biggest Loser” will immediately recognize the woman on the cover of “The Mommy Diet: A Month-by-Month Plan for a Healthy Body and Mind, Before, During and After Pregnancy.”
Allison Sweeney isn’t a health expert, she’s an actress and reality show host. But, she’s also a mother of two and a working woman with two jobs. She’s been around the experts on “The Biggest Loser” for three years now. Anyone who’s been watching since that time can tell you that after her second pregnancy, Sweeney came back to the show looking amazing. The book just seems to be the answer to the question, “How’d she loose all that weight so fast?”
The tone of the book is very casual and friendly. Sweeney knows she isn’t an expert and doesn’t really have any authority to be giving out health advice. The book is actually more of an all-encompassing advice book for moms it has friendly little tips on exercises, fashion, smoothie recipes, and even playlists. Everything is broken out into chapters in a mom’s life — before pregnancy, the three trimesters of pregnancy, and month-by-month in the nine months after the birth.
None of it is groundbreaking, but sometimes, we need that gentle little push to make us do the thing we already know we need to do. If you’re looking for a dieting buddy to tsk-tsk at you (not a Jillian Michaels-type screaming at your), then this book might be the go-to guide for your postpartum weight loss.
